Thank you for allowing Finger Lakes Getaways to assist you with your vacation rental. We offer a wide variety of quality lakeside and lake view homes for rent in the Finger Lakes.

Each vacation home is privately owned and reflects the taste of its owners. Every effort has been made to ensure that the descriptions, amenities and rates on our web site are accurate. However, we cannot be held responsible for changes made by owners to furnishings and amenities. Our vacation rentals are well maintained and clean. Please understand that these are unique cottages and homes which, like your own, occasionally experience unexpected problems.

You are here to enjoy yourself, so please report any problems promptly and we will make every effort to correct any problems you may experience in a timely manner.

ADMINISTRATION:

Availability Schedule:

Rental homes are available weekly and some monthly in the off season, or nightly throughout the year with a minimum stay. During our Peak Season, weekly rentals begin on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, depending on the property. If the property rents daily in the On Season and you choose to begin your week on a different day of the week other than the one specified for the property you will have to pay the nightly charge. For example, if you choose a property that rents Saturday – Saturday in the On Season, choosing to arrive on a Friday instead Saturday will result in being charged the higher nightly rate.

Minimum Age:

Guests must be a minimum of 21 years of age to sign a rental agreement.

Cancellations and Change Reservation Policies:

If renter is unable to or chooses not to occupy Premises during contracted rental period, NO return of rent, fees or portion thereof will occur except upon ALL conditions being met as follows:

  1. Renter advises Finger Lakes Getaways in writing, 60 days minimum prior to beginning of rental period that renter will not be using premises for all or specific portion of contracted rental period.
  2. Premises are re-rented for part, or all, of rental period for which monies were paid. If Finger Lakes Getaways succeeds in re-renting premises following renter meeting terms stated in this portion of this agreement, appropriate rental monies shall be refunded to renter minus FLG nonrefundable reservation and management fees and their associated taxes. Any periods which are not re-rented and are paid for by renter; both owner and renter acknowledge the rental must be left vacant other than renter to occupy at will.

Off-Season Reservations:

The Finger Lakes can have a great amount of snowfall from November through March. Please be prepared with front wheel drive or 4 wheel drive, snow tires, and/or chains. Most properties have their driveways plowed if snowfall exceeds 3”. Firewood for fireplaces is not provided but can be purchased locally. Outdoor furniture, grills and docks are not likely to be available for use from October through mid-May due to winter conditions.

Office Hours:

Our office is open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.  If you have an after-hours emergency, please leave a voicemail on our answering machine and someone will promptly return your call as voicemail is routinely checked throughout the evenings and weekends.

Our Rental Seasons:

  • Pre-Season (Spring) 5/3/19-6/27/19
  • Peak Season (Summer) 6/28/19-8/29/19
  • Post Season (Fall) 8/30/19-10/31/19
  • Off Season (Winter) 11/1/19-4/30/20

*Please Note: Rental rates are subject to market fluctuations and are not guaranteed until a signed rental agreement is received by our rental office.

Rental Payments:

One half of your rental amount, the reservation fee, and the management fee is due upon booking.  The remaining balance is due 75 days prior to check-in payable via credit card.  When reserving for an arrival date within 75 days, full payment is due upon booking.  Properties are subject to a Lodging Tax, (3-4%), and fees are subject to New York State Sales Tax, (7.5-8%), each rate depending on the County in which the rental property is located.

Damages:

We offer $3,000 in accidental damage insurance for only $50. This is provided through CSA Travel Protection, and is available for purchase at check-out when booking a reservation.

This plan protects you from costs associated with accidental damage or a theft within the unit up to $3,000. You must immediately notify Finger Lakes Getaways of any damage or theft to the unit or its contents during your occupancy. Purchasing the plan does not negate your responsibility as a tenant. All vacation homes are cleaned and carefully inspected prior to your arrival and after your departure. Please refer to these insurance plan information detailing terms, conditions and responsibilities of the tenant: This Rental Unit Damage Protection plan covers unintentional damages to the rental unit interior that occur during your stay, provided they are disclosed to management prior to check-out. The policy will pay a maximum benefit of $3,000. Any damages that exceed $3,000 will be charged to the credit card on file. If, during your stay at one of our Rental Properties, an Insured Person causes any damage to real or personal property of the unit as a result of inadvertent acts or omissions, the Insurer will reimburse the Insured for the cost of repair or replacement of such property up to a maximum benefit of $3,000. Certain terms and conditions apply. Full details of the Rental Unit Damage Protection coverage are contained in the Certificate of Insurance or Insurance Policy. By submitting payment for this plan, you authorize and request CSA Travel Protection and Insurance Services to pay directly Finger Lakes Getaways any amount payable under the terms and conditions of the Rental Unit Damage Protection.  (Please note that damage insurance will not cover excessive cleaning charges or damages that result from guest misuse or neglect. Those charges will be the sole responsibility of the guest and will be billed directly to you.)

If you prefer not to purchase damage insurance, we will be happy to accept a $2000 refundable security deposit, which is due 10 days prior to your arrival date.  Provided no damages or missing items are noted upon inspection, your security deposit will be returned within 30 days of your departure.

 

OCCUPANCY:

Occupancy Limits:

The maximum number of allowable occupants is noted on the description of each vacation home and must be strictly enforced; in some areas these limits are mandated and monitored by local municipalities.  Large parties or gatherings are not permitted unless arrangements have been made with FLG and the property owner well in advance.  Campers, tents, motor homes, etc., are prohibited.  Failure to comply with stated occupancy limits may result in eviction and forfeiture of monies paid.

Pets:

We are happy to say that many of our vacation homes are pet friendly, and will allow you to bring your dog lake with your family, so please do let us know if your furry family members are coming along!  In most cases, dogs are limited to a maximum of two at the property. There is a non-refundable pet fee of $75 per dog plus applicable taxes, and guests will be required to review, approve and return a copy of our Pet Agreement. Pets in non-pet vacation homes is strictly forbidden. Violators of our pet policy will incur a service charge of $300.00 and subject to immediate eviction. Check-In/Out:

Check-In time is 3:00 P.M. and check out time is 10 A.M.  These times are FIRM. If you arrive earlier, our staff will be happy to suggest local parks and attractions that will help you pass the time until 3:00 P.M. arrives.  Property-specific check-in instructions and helpful details about your vacation rental will be emailed to you 10 days prior to check-in.

Cleaning:

Your vacation home is cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival and after your departure.  Guests are responsible for reasonable cleanliness.  There is to be no food left behind and trash must be properly disposed of.  You will be billed directly for any excessive cleaning and/or trash.

Housekeeping and Maintenance Services:

If you experience any maintenance issues or have concerns about housekeeping, please let us know immediately so that appropriate actions can be taken as quickly as possible. It is suggested that you notify our office of existing damages within the first hour of arrival to ensure that you are not held responsible. This allows us to ensure that you are not held accountable for anything that you did not do. We are always happy to address any questions or concerns you may have.

Linen Rentals:

Some of our vacation homes do not offer linens or furnish only towels and/or sheets; this information is included in each property’s description. You may bring your own linens or rent them from a local linen service.  All vacation rentals supply mattress pads, pillows, blankets and comforters for each bed.

Smoking:

Smoking is prohibited inside any vacation home.  You may smoke outside as long as you use proper caution and dispose of butts in a safe manner, removing all signs of smoking prior to your check out.

What to Bring:

If you are not planning to use a linen service, please remember to bring sheets and towels if applicable to your property. You will also need to bring kitchen linens. All vacation homes are equipped with pillows, blankets/comforters and mattress pads. You might want to bring extra towels, water toys for swimming, and life jackets.

All vacation homes are equipped with cutlery, place settings, cups and glasses for the total number of occupants listed in the property description. Many homes have coffee makers, mixing bowls, pots and pans (the basics). Based on your cooking needs, you might want to bring a blender, large roasting pan, cake pans or other specialty items.

Please bring extra paper products, detergent, propane or charcoal and trash bags. You could also buy them when you arrive if you choose. Propane is not guaranteed to be supplied, this is the renter’s responsibility.  Be prepared to fill the tank if you will be using a gas grill.

Guests who are renting vacation homes with wood burning fireplaces or fire pits may want fire starters, kindling and wood. Firewood is not supplied. All can be purchased locally – please do not transport firewood from out of the immediate area. Our staff will be more than happy to provide directions to local stores and shops.

 

MISCELLANENEOUS:

Construction:

The Finger Lakes is a growing resort region and new construction is evident throughout the area. We cannot be responsible for construction next to or near the vacation home you plan to rent. New construction may also alter views from vacation homes. Please realize that this situation is a matter beyond our control, and no refunds or re-locations will be made.

Courtesy to Neighbors:

Our vacation rentals are not in a resort environment but are located in residential neighborhoods.  We truly want you to enjoy your stay, but please be respectful of your neighbors and restrict your activities to the rental property. This includes docks and beach frontage – except for parks and other public locations, beaches, docks, and waterfront are privately owned. Quiet hours should be observed between the hours of 10:00 P.M. and 8:00 A.M.  Guests who are disruptive will be asked to vacate the premises without refund.

Courtesy to Vacation Home:

We ask that you comply with all laws and keep the premises as clean and safe as possible. If you are renting more than one home, do not mix the contents.  Furnishings, electronics, etc. must not be rearranged.  Many homes have a locked owner’s closet or restricted areas. Tampering with these will result in a charge to your credit card. Use the vacation home’s trash and recycling receptacles provided to properly dispose of these items. Keep the plumbing free of toys and other foreign items. Treat your vacation home as your own, and use it respectfully to minimize the potential for damages. Report all damages and problems to the Finger Lakes Getaways office immediately.

Family Atmosphere:

We maintain a family atmosphere for the enjoyment of our guests, neighbors and lake residents. Absolutely no house parties allowed! No sororities, fraternities or non-chaperoned groups are allowed. Should a group misrepresent themselves, they will be required to vacate the premises immediately without refund.

Homes for Sale:

In the event that the vacation home you are renting is for sale, we may find the need to show the property during your stay. We will make every effort to schedule the showing at a convenient time and not interrupt your stay.   If this applies to your vacation rental, you will receive a For Sale Addendum in addition to your rental agreement.

Septic Systems:

Please be respectful of the delicate septic systems of lake cottages and homes.  Do not put anything other than human waste and a reasonable amount of toilet paper in toilets.

Telephones:

Many vacation homes do not have a land line telephone. If a telephone is provided, it will be noted on the property description page.  Please plan on bringing your mobile phone.

Vehicles:

No campers, tents or motor homes are allowed on the premises. Vehicle parking is limited at most vacation homes, and is restricted based on maximum occupancy for the home. Please respect the numbers allowed and parking area as stated in your rental agreement.

Water Sources:

All of our properties have different water sources. Some draw water from the lake, wells, or are on municipal water. However, the taste and smell of the water at each vacation home differs. Although all water sources are safe for cooking, laundry, showering, etc., we highly recommend guests bring bottled drinking water.

Zebra Mussels:

Zebra Mussels are small shellfish that inhabit the Finger Lakes. They form clusters on rocks and immovable objects such as dock posts, and can be quite sharp. Therefore, we suggest you bring water shoes for every member of your family.
